Immersive Exploration and Data Acquisition: XR Virtual Field Trips for 3D Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (SURE VFT) is a one year pilot project (Oct. 2024- Sep. 2025) granted by XR4ED, a European platform funded within the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme from Jan. 2023 to Dec. 2025 on learning and training with XR.
What is SURE-VFT?
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the SURE-VFT project is to develop and deploy a comprehensive program of virtual field trips (VFTs) on the XR4ED platform. The SURE-VFT program aims to provide Surveying Engineering students with practical skills in photogrammetry, 3D modeling, and remote sensing, while ensuring seamless integration with industry requirements, commercial viability, and validating its effectiveness through pilot launches
WORK PACKAGES (WPs)
WP2: Conducts technology benchmarking and user requirement analysis.
WP3: Develops XR4ED-compatible virtual field trips.
WP4: Launches and validates virtual field trip pilots.
WP5: Disseminates project results, develops a replication guide, and creates an exploitation strategy.
PROJECT PHASES
SURE-VFT aims to deliver a robust educational solution that enhances learning outcomes for Surveying Engineering students, establishes a scalable model for replication in extended reality, and fosters commercial acceptance of the XR4ED platform. The integration of industry needs, validation through pilot launches in XR environments, and focus on accessibility, user control, and learning effectiveness will ensure the program’s relevance and effectiveness across diverse educational contexts.
Implemented in three phases:
Preparation Phase
Implementation Phase
Data Collection and Analysis Phase
What’s the role of EuroXR in the project?
EuroXR has been granted to fulfill several project activities as a consortium member. Mainly communication, dissemination and explotation activities:
Dissemination and Outreach
Explotation & Commercialization Strategy
The project will have a duration of 1 year during which EuroXR will be supporting the assigned activities. All the information about the project will be published and updated regularly in EuroXR website and it will also be available in the project’s website and social channels.
